Opera Today hailed Greek-American soprano Jessica Stavros as “full voiced, looking lovely and acting with sincerity” for her Glimmerglass Festival debut as Glauce in Medea by Cherubini. Jessica returns this season as a guest at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf as Gerhilde in Wagner/Loriot’s Der Ring an einem Abend. Future engagements bring Ms. Stavros to Bilbao Opera in 2017.
During Jessica’s three years fest with Deutsche Oper am Rhein, her roles to date include Madame Lidoine (Dialogue des Carmélites), Gerhilde and Gutrune (Der Ring an einem Abend), Die Aufseherin (Elektra), Gertrud (Hänsel und Gretel), Gräfin (Figaros Hochzeit), Die Köchin (Die Nachtigall), and Die Amme (Prinzessin auf der Erbse).
Ms. Stavros’ repertoire includes roles such as Leonora (Il Trovatore), Senta (Die Fliegende Holländer), Elsa (Lohengrin), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Giorgetta (Il Tabarro), Suor Angelica (Puccini), and Irene (Rienzi).
Jessica studied at Manhattan School of Music, Boston University and Biola University in Los Angeles.
